BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:   

1. List 6 keys to structuring a successful therapeutic outcome

2. List the 8 steps of the Hypothesis-Orientated Algorithm for Clinicians (HOAC) model

3. List 6 goals for future-orientated approach planning

4. Describe when it is appropriate to turn over treatment tasks to the patient’s family

5. List 3 classifications of brachial plexus injuries

6. Describe patterns of muscle dysfunction in upper and lower-plexus type injuries

7. Describe risk factors for an infant brachial plexus injury

8. Describe the use of the Hypothesis-Orientated Algorithm for Clinicians (HOAC) model for treatment of a child with a brachial plexus injury

9. List 5 roles of the physical therapist in a NICU setting

10. Describe the 5 areas of assessment in the Neonatal Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCP)

11. Be able to differentiate between which patients in the NICU setting are appropriate for physical therapy care and those that are not.

12. Describe a critical pathway for developmental examination of infants at risk for developmental disabilities

13. Describe the use of the Hypothesis-Orientated Algorithm for Clinicians (HOAC) model for treatment of an infant at risk for develomental disability
